When Maribelle says that she wants people to be treated equally regardless of station and Libra asks if she means even unwanted children of lowborn parents, I always assume he’s thinking partly of himself; hence why he feels redeemed to have met her when she says yes. I see this as him finding someone who would see him as valued and equal despite the unhappy circumstances of his birth, while Maribelle is inspired to fight for justice on behalf of all citizens because of the effect Libra tells her his words had. She makes him feel valued and redeemed, and he reinforces and supports her innate sense of justice; to me it’s a pairing of mutual support and shared values, and that’s why I like it.
